The LUCID system is a public registry managed by the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister.

All entities introducing packaged products intended for private end consumers should be registered in it.

Companies offering mail-order sales to customers in Germany should also have a LUCID number.

Having a LUCID number alone does not equate to fulfilling all obligations related to packaging regulations.

The obligations of entities introducing packaging to the market also include regularly reporting the quantities of packaging introduced.

The next step is to enter into a contract with a recycling company and pay fees based on the declared quantities of packaging.
